Oro Valley
Once dismissed as a sleepy retirement community, today's Oro Valley is anything but. The rolling hills of old ranches and farmland have given way to a bustling area with new businesses arriving all the time. This growing town, dubbed the "Upscale Tech Mecca" by the Arizona Daily Star, is emerging as a regional center for the biotech industry and is home to more than ten high-tech firms.
Residents calling Oro Valley home are an educated community with a higher-than-average earning power. According to the 200 census, more than 43% of Oro Valley residents have at least a bachelor's degree (nearly double Tucson's 23%) and the town's median family income is $67,600 (compared with Tucson's $37,300).
Oro Valley is home to the Tucson Marathon, one of the fastest marathon races in the country. Add to that several nationally ranked golf courses, resorts, a new state-of-the art medical facility in Northwest Hospital, and even a neighborhood boasting a private air park, and you have one unique local community.
