South Tucson
The city of South Tucson, known for its traditional Mexican flavor and culture, is a community of 5,500 people in one square mile on the southern side of Tucson. South Tucson calls itself the "Pueblo within a city" because it is surrounded on all sides by Tucson.
South Tucson is home to over 300 businesses, including Tucson Greyhound Park. The city is renowned for its authentic Mexican restaurants, colorful murals and distinct architectural styles, as well as several famous events each year, including the Annual Norteno Music Festival and Street Fair held in August.
South Tucson homes vary from bungalow to barrio style, and most were built around the 1950's. Students in this area attend schools within the Tucson Unified School District.
