Downtown Tucson
A revitalization project was born in 1999 to spark growth in Downtown Tucson, and the place is buzzing with a mix of new development and Old West charm. In the Barrio, brightly colored traditional stucco homes are accented with small courtyards and desert gardens.
Settling Downtown offers broad entertainment options. The Tucson Convention Center, Rialto Theatre and Hotel Congress are regular stops for locally and nationally known musicians and shows, while the historic Fox Tucson Theatre hosts a slew of music events and classic film showings. Multiple museums, as well as more than 20 galleries and several performing arts venues, make downtown living a cultural experience unto itself.
Don't forget Fourth Avenue, one of Tucson's main hubs for independent shops, locally owned restaurants, and bars and nightclubs. It's also home to the Fourth Avenue Street Fair, occuring each spring and fall and attracting artists from across the Southwest.
